Dumbbell shadow boxing only works you against gravity, failing to build real punching power. Worse, throwing a full-force punch this way can hyperextend and damage your joints.
Resistance band exercises build the wrong muscle memory. The resistance peaks at the end of the punch, exactly where your hand should be fastest, not fighting the most resistance.
